How this service works
No mystery and no small print. Here is the whole process, including the part where we get paid.
The three steps
You tell us the job
Postcode, what needs doing, how soon, and how to reach you. About a minute. The postcode is first because it decides everything else.
We match and pass it on
We look at which checked firms cover that postcode and do that type of work, then pass your enquiry to up to three of them. Often fewer, because coverage matters more than volume.
They quote you directly
The roofers contact you themselves, usually within a working day. They survey, they price, you compare. We are not involved in the quote, the contract or the work.
What we check before a firm gets your enquiry
Vetting is a word that gets thrown around loosely on sites like this, so here is precisely what it means here.
- The business is real. Companies House registration where the firm trades as a limited company, or a verifiable trading history and address where it does not.
- Insurance. Public liability cover appropriate to roofing work, plus employers' liability where the firm has employees.
- Genuine local coverage. The firm actually works in the postcodes it claims. A national call centre subcontracting your job to whoever is free is not local coverage.
- The right work. A firm that does flat roofs is not automatically the firm you want on a Collyweston stone slate roof.
What checking does not mean
It is a floor, not a guarantee, and it is not a substitute for your own diligence. Before you let anyone start, ask for a copy of the insurance certificate, references for two similar jobs nearby, and a written quote that states the materials and the guarantee.
If a firm will not give you those three things, that tells you what you need to know, whether you found them here or anywhere else.
How we are paid
Roofing firms pay us for the introduction. That is the entire business model, and it is why the service is free to you.
The obvious question is whether that biases what you see. Two things keep it honest. First, firms pay the same for an introduction regardless of who they are, so there is nothing to buy your way to the top of. Second, we publish guide prices independently of the firms, which means our own content routinely tells you when a quote looks too high.
A lead-generation site that only ever tells you to spend more is not much use to anybody, including the roofers, who would rather quote people with a realistic idea of the cost.
What happens to your details
Your enquiry goes to the roofing firms matched to your postcode so that they can quote. That is the purpose you gave it to us for and that is all it is used for.
- We do not sell your details to unrelated companies
- We do not pass them to double glazing, solar, insurance or finance firms
- You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time

If the quotes came back well above our published guide range for that job, tell us. It is useful to us and it usually means something specific about your roof is driving the price, which is worth understanding before you commit.
Some of it. Small commercial and landlord work, yes. Large industrial roofing and specialist systems are outside what most of our firms do, so tell us the detail and we will be straight with you about whether we can help.
